News: 11 hours agoWilliams completed 32 of 47 passes for 340 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions in Sunday's 30-27 overtime loss to the Vikings. He added six rushes for 33 yards.

Spin: The Bears were playing from behind for the entire second half, which led to Williams' second-highest pass attempt total of his rookie season. While that aided his stat line, there were plenty of positives to take from his performance, including six completions of at least 20 yards. He also recorded his first passing score since Week 6, connecting with DJ Moore and Keenan Allen for 10- and one-yard touchdowns, respectively. Willams is likely to experience more inconsistency to close the season, though he has averaged a respectable 7.3 yards per attempt in two games since the Bears have changed offensive coordinators.

ESPN Fantasy Projection: The Bears selected Williams with the first pick in the 2024 NFL draft. He was stellar at USC, showcasing his natural playmaking ability both in and out of the pocket, finishing with a single-season school record with 4,919 yards passing. In Chicago, he joins an offense that was second in rushing yards and attempts while also finishing bottom six in passing yards, passing attempts and completions last season. Part of that rushing total came from the departed Justin Fields, and Shane Waldron is now calling plays, so this offense should be more balanced in 2024. Williams will have a strong supporting cast with DJ Moore, Keenan Allen and Rome Odunze leading the way, but he's best viewed as a mid-tier QB2 with upside in his rookie season.
